This RKX kit contains one Humber Light Reconnaissance Car (LRC). The analysis of the British Expeditionary Force’s performance in 1940 led to the creation of a new corps – the Reconnaissance Corps. Tasked with providing vital information to infantry divisions, the ‘Recce Corps’ needed new equipment to fulfil their role. Development of the Humber LRC began in 1941 with a full 4x4 production model, the Humber Mark III LRC, entering service in 1942. Armed with a Boys AT rifle and a Bren light machine gun, over 2,400 would be produced. The 3.4 ton vehicle had a three-man crew and a top on-road speed of around 75mph. The Humber LRC served alongside a range of armoured cars in the Recce Corps, and saw service across multiple sectors of the Second World War, from North Africa and Italy, to Normandy, the flooded winter of the Low Countries, and the advance across the Rhine.
